Morton Grove, Illinois Gamma Technology Center

The Morton Grove Gamma Technology Center is home of the Gamma TechTeam® group. Our technical experts are here to help you through the gamma irradiation process, assist in establishing sterilization dose values, and provide high precision irradiation dose delivery for validation, dose audit and research purposes.

The Morton Grove gamma research facility began serving the needs of the irradiation community in 1957. Our facility features a true direct path, off-carrier irradiator, providing several benefits to our Customers:

  • Cartons are placed on turntables and rotated in that position throughout the process, resulting in a direct path from the source and consistent dose rates for your product
  • A wide variety of product placement options are available within the irradiation chamber, providing flexibility in dose rates
  • Product placement and delivered dose can be replicated, which allows reproducible processing cycles throughout a research project or highly controlled experiment
  • Each Customer carton is dose mapped, processed, and monitored by one of our highly trained gamma technicians, providing the ultimate flexibility and oversight required for your unique validation or research needs
  • Validation and dose-audit work can be seamlessly transferred into our larger commercial processing locations throughout North America
  • Dosimeters are calibrated in advanced GammaCell irradiators for precise measurement

Areas of specialization include:

  • Gamma irradiation dose delivery within ANSI/AMMI/ISO validation and dose audit requirements
  • Processing of samples for materials studies to determine functionality and compatibility of selected components
  • High precision dose delivery to perform dose response studies or accommodate sensitive products that otherwise could easily be damaged by ionizing radiation
  • Processing, storage and shipment of products at cold temperatures to isolate/mitigate free-radical migration and help maintain low bioburden levels prior to or during irradiation
  • The unique capabilities at Morton Grove allow the TechTeam to handle specialty projects, from small volume processing to specialty dose mapping, while maintaining delivered doses to within +/- 10%

In addition to the Red 4034 dosimetry system, the Gamma Technology Center uses alanine dosimeters for precise dose measurement and special applications such as dose mapping, validations, low or high dose processing, and transit and static studies.

Our processing options include:

  • Same Day (in and out the same day)
  • Priority (1-3 business days)
  • Routine (4-7 business days) from product receipt to outbound shipping
